We are thrilled to announce that Barbara Yung will be in attendance at Friday Night’s 54th Annual Burlesque Reunion Showcase to accept the 2011 Legend of Burlesque Award.
Renown for her exotic looks, grace, and beauty, Barbara Yung’s long and extraordinary career as a feature performer spanned the early 1940s through the mid-1970s.
Still every inch the knockout in her early nineties, she was a longtime favorite at The Kubla Khan, Club Shanghai, and The Sky Room, as well as a feature attraction in the clubs, cabarets and burlesque theaters of Hawaii; New Orleans’ Bourbon Street; Dallas, Texas; and San Francisco’s Chinatown.

April 12, 2014 at 11:26 amMy Mom and her two sisters were regular dancers at the Sky Room back in the 40s-50s. She used to take me there and believe me, going to the Sky Room was a treat for a little kid. I was more or less shell shocked when Barbara Yung came on stage, it was my first encounter with exotic dancing. To this day I remember her well and especially the two twirling tassles at the end of the show!
