Since 2012, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday, has kicked off the holiday charity season for nonprofits around the world. #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. Your year-end donations to BHoF help us year-round to produce new exhibitions, build and protect our collection, create special events, and keep burlesque’s unique and wonderful history alive for all to enjoy.
This #GivingTuesday (November 27), Facebook is matching up to $7 million worth of donations to nonprofits like the Burlesque Hall of Fame. Help us take advantage of these matching funds by donating on @GivingTuesday. You can donate through BHoF’s Facebook fundraiser or create your own to share with your friends!
Creating a fundraiser is easy. Just:
- Click Fundraisers in the left menu of your News Feed (or go to https://www.facebook.com/fundraisers/ ).
- Click Raise Money.
- Select Nonprofit/Charity.
- Enter “Burlesque Hall of Fame” in the search bar and select “Burlesque Hall of Fame Inc.” as your charity.
- Enter a fundraising goal and an end date for your fundraiser. You can enter whatever goal you want, but Facebook will only match donations up to $1000 for any given fundraiser. End your fundraiser at midnight, November 27.
- Click Create.
Facebook’s match will be used up very quickly, so please, act as early as possible on Tuesday morning (but no earlier than 8am EST/5am PST). Help us make the most of your generosity by getting as much of the Facebook match as we can!
Renew your membership via Facebook donation
Make your membership dues go twice as far! During #GivingTuesday, you can become a member or renew an existing membership by donating via Facebook – allowing us to double your impact through Facebook’s match.
To start a membership, go to burlesquehall.com/member and sign up normally. Then visit the fundraiser on our page (facebook.com/theburlesquehall) or create your own fundraiser on Facebook, donate your membership dues (typically $40, $80, or $120), and forward your donation receipt to us at info@burlesquehall.com (be sure to include the email address you used to sign up for membership).
Renewing is even easier: donate your renewal amount (typically $40, $80, or $120), and forward the donation receipt to info@burlesquehall.com with your legal name, email address, and a note saying you have renewed via Facebook donation.
