You’ve heard of “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday”, the days after Thanksgiving that kick off the holiday shopping season with a mad frenzy of competitive bargain-hunting and retail excess? Well, we aren’t here to tell you not to shop that weekend, but we are here to tell you, there’s a better way. Support your local communities and the causes that matter most to you by participating in Small Business Saturday and Museum Store Sunday.
Small Business Saturday (November 27) celebrates the local businesses that make up the backbone of your community (while museums are generally nonprofits, we are also businesses). Small businesses account for 44% of the US economy – 44% that generates jobs and revenue within their communities. Especially now, after nearly two years of pandemic, small businesses are struggling and need your support. BHoF is participating in Small Business Saturday, but so are hundreds of small businesses near you – be sure to check them out!
The next day, November 28, is Museum Store Sunday. Museum stores offer unique and uniquely meaningful gifts for everyone on your shopping list, and your purchases support the museum’s educational project as well. Normally closed on Sundays, we will be open special hours on Museum Store Sunday, Nov 28, from Noon to 4pm, to be part of this special day. We will be offering 20% off everything in our gift shop (books excluded). Can’t make it to BHoF? Check out the deals at participating museums near you.
