We’ve been hard at work digitizing and cataloguing material in our collection – since we implemented our new software, we’ve added over 1300 pieces to the catalogue! To give you a taste of what that entails, we’re making a selection of our database available online at https://bhof.link/DixieEvansColl. This is a portion – about 700 pieces – of the Dixie Evans Collection, the part of our collection built or maintained by Dixie Evans when she was the museum’s curator (through 2010). So far, mostly photos have been digitized, but you’ll see some costume pieces, posters, and other material in there as well, and more to come as we catalog more and more pieces in the collection.
We will add more as time goes by – our goal is eventually to have a significant part of the collection available to view online, and to be able to offer researchers access to specific elements as needed. Speaking of which, if you’re a researcher or academic who’s interested in writing about some of this material or even putting together a virtual exhibition, drop us a line at research@burlesquehall.com and let’s talk. There’s still a lot of work left to do to catalog this collection but we’d love to start being able to share this material more now that so much has been imaged and added to our database.
