Exactly 20 years ago today, on December 21, 1998, Dixie Evans filed Articles of Incorporation with the state of California to incorporate Exotic World, Inc. (now Burlesque Hall of Fame, Inc.). The stated purpose of this newly-registered organization was:

…for the preservation and perpetuation of an era of burlesque and exotic dancing by displaying in a museum setting, artifacts of the genre such as photographs, posters, costumes and accessories and related memorabilia.

20 years later, with your help, we are still pursuing the same mission, preserving and perpetuating the art of burlesque every day through the work we do here at the museum. Your membership and donations supports that important work, allowing us to develop exhibitions and special programs, reach out the the community, and present burlesque’s story in all its glittery, glamorous glory.
