Volunteer

The Burlesque Hall of Fame seeks volunteers for a variety of roles in the museum, including:

  • Museum attendants: Tend the physical space of the museum during open hours (Wed-Sun, 12-5p, plus evenings during First Fridays and Second Saturdays), manage gift shop sales and inventory, greet visitors and answer questions.
  • Collection assistants: Assist with organizing, cataloguing, and conserving the museum’s collection of artifacts including stage costumes and props, publicity photographs, and personal belongings from some of burlesque’s biggest stars.
  • Designers/writers/programmers: Create promotional materials for the museum for print, Web, smartphone, and other channels of communication.

The Burlesque Hall of Fame is committed to all aspects of diversity and accepts volunteers regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, and physical disability. All necessary training will be provided. Volunteers should meet the following qualifications:

  • Available at least 2 hours weekly and preferably 5 hours or more.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to handle basic financial transactions (for museum attendants) and record-keeping (for all positions).
  • Willing to work under stringent museum and preservation standards.
  • Interested in burlesque, cultural history, and/or museum practice.
